11/19/2023 0 Comments 3 hrs and 15 min timerThere's a whole lot more money left out there if all you do is pull a reactor and move on. 30 minutes is the perfect amount to limit you from screwing around too much but also incentivize the player to not just pull the reactor, throw some expensive stuff down to the barge and move on but actually experience the ship. After it's gone it's far more efficient to just start a new job. Once that reactor is pulled out and thrown to the barge you've broken even for the run it's the single easiest way to make sure you're secure for the job. It doesn't actually hinder or annoy me, it just makes me abandon what I'm working on. All the 15 minutes does is make me abandon a husk of a ship and move on to another. This will probably be something that develops later, but in its current state it is indefensible. The purpose is clearly to put pressure on the player, but as you're said dozens of times there is no penalty (other than annoyance) so currently it fails at that. or at least wait until the chunk you just set in motion makes it to the processor so you get credit for it. then you'd have an incentive to stop working when time is up, but it's not forced and you can choose to finish up whatever you're in the middle of doing if you want. Maybe, since you're clearly renting your equipment, you start getting charged late fees or something. Now, if there was more actual purpose to the timer it would make sense. You can resupply any time you want/need by going back to the hab platform and buying what you need from the console, which takes less time overall than having the entire day reset on you.
